As we start our various training programmes we thought it might be useful to post about the basic structure we all use.  Whilst we are all at differing levels of age and abilities, the basic structure and the importance of training cycles and the phases of endurance training apply to all of us. Unless you’re working one-on-one with a personal coach or have been training for endurance-based events for a long time, chances are that you may not be too familiar with the periodization – or progressive cycling of training – that is critical to help us peak at the right times and avoid injury.
